Huíla: Over thousand die of malaria

Lubango - At least 1,178 people died of malaria over the last 15 months in southern Huila province. The information was released by the health authorities in the province, saying the above figure was part of 175,622 people admitted in medical units in the province. According to a report that reached Angop on Tuesday in Lubango, there has been a drop of 526 cases, as compared with the previous period. But the source says the cases of the disease rose to 121,796. The note says there were 150,886 cases of diarrhoea, respiratory infections (66,195), sexually transmitted diseases (8,093), turberculosis (15,431), malnutrition (15.131), yellow fever (66), rabies (36) and measles (07) and others. The report states that the provincial capital city, Lubango, has reported the highest number of cases, which has led to the reinforcement of the National Malaria Control Programme
