NATIVE REMEDY: Pune-based Bio Ved Pharma (BVP) is all set to make its mark in the Indian pharmaceuticals market, with the launch of its first Ayurvedic drug artrex in February next year. BVP is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the US-based Ayur Core Inc. Artrex, an arthritis drug, will be manufactured by Simrone, a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company. BVP had obtained a US patent for artrex earlier this year. The company is conducting research on many other drugs, including an immuno modulator that would stabilise the immune system of a person undergoing chemotherapy.

A CLEAN SWEEP: The Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has established itself as the country's largest manufacturer of electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) used for pollution control in core-sector industries. These precipitators can collect more than 99.3 per cent dust and ash, thus reducing emission of fly-ash substantially. BHEL has, so far, supplied about 750 ESPs to thermal power plants, cement, iron and steel, newsprint, sugar and other industries. The ESPs are manufactured in Ranipet, Andhra Pradesh.

FOR A GRREENER YEILD : Ecomax, launched by the Mumbai-based Good Value Marketing Co (GVMC), is the latest brand of biofertilisers available in the market. GVMC is one of the largest companies manufacturing and marketing organic manures in the country and abroad. The Ecomax range of products consists of biofertilisers azofert, rhizofert and phosfert, and have a shelf life of over two years. Neemax, a neem-based organic manure with insecticidal properties is another product being manufactured by the company. GVMC holds 55 per cent of the country's biofertiliser market valued at Rs 40 crores.
