Report of the committee set up to frame National Sustainable Habitat Standards for the municipal solid waste management

The National Mission for Sustainable Habitat was approved by the Prime Minister’s Council for Climate Change in June 2010. One of the deliverables of the Mission is the formulation of National Sustainable Habitat Standards. These standards would subsequently get integrated with relevant regulations to ensure that future developments are aligned in accordance with concerns related to climate change. Accordingly, a sub-committee was appointed under the chairmanship of Shri. A.K. Mehta, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development to evolve the standards in respect of municipal solid waste management sector.
