Tiger concern

Tiger concern this month a high-level delegation from the uk will investigate tiger poaching and illegal trade in tiger parts in India. It will also analyse protective measures initiated by the Indian government. The mission is part of a campaign launched in London by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species ( cites). It involves a visit to the tigers' native countries and countries known to be involved in trading in tiger parts, according to the British High Commission in Delhi.

The mission will aim at intensifying efforts to prevent poaching and illegal trade in tiger products used in traditional medicines. It will also identify and promote legislation and push for proper enforcement. Though cites bans international trade in tiger and tiger parts, poaching mainly to meet the needs of the traditional medicine market, combined with habitat loss has resulted in the drastic decline in number of the tiger population.
