THREE indigenous satellites are to be launched in quick succession between September and December this" year, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Bangalore. While the sequence of the launches have not yet been finiliscd, sources in ISRO said thai they were ready for them. The 3 satellites are the Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS-2c) to be launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Russia; the Indian National Satellite System (INSAT-2c) to be launched by the Ariane launcher in French Guyana and the Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS-P3) to be launched by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) - manufactured in the country - in October. The PSLV launch will contain a payload designed and developed by the Bombay-based Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in collaboration with ISRO.
