Comprehensive EIA for Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport

This report is prepared in regards to the proposal of developing a major port located at Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram district; which is already a declared minor port under GoK. This is a Comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (CEIA) report prepared for the proposed Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport herein after referred to as "Vizhinjam Port‟ or simply "The Deepwater Port‟. The port is envisaged to be developed through a Landlord Port Model where the major port infrastructure like the breakwater, dredging, reclamation, berths and external infrastructure like road, rail, water and power will be developed by Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL), a fully owned Company of the GoK, whereas the construction and operation of the port terminal will be on Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis, through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) concessionaire selected through a competitive bidding process.
