Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding pollution in Rohtang Pass, 13/08/2015
Order of the National Green Tribunal (Principal Bench, New Delhi) in the matter of Court on its own Motion Vs. State of Himachal Pradesh & Ors. And Abhimanyu Rathor Vs. State of H.P. & Ors. dated 13/08/2015.
The Counsel appearing for the State has informed that trial of CNG Buses at Rohtang Pass has been successful. They have planned to introduce CNG buses for regular operation from Vashist to Rohtang Pass.
Along with the affidavit filed on behalf of G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development, a report has been filed. In this report it has submitted that there is a serious environmental problem due to unregulated and unplanned tourism, over-crowding, exploitation of natural resources, over-construction of hotels, inadequate infrastructure, littering of waste and other activities associated with tourism which have become a regular source of pollution and ecological and environmental degradation in that area.
