In court
drainage problems: The Australian New South Wales Land and Environment Court has ordered Arenco Propriety Limited, a construction company, to pay around US $20,000 towards rehabilitation work at Bathurst mine after it pumped water into a stormwater drainage system in the area. It pumped 18,600 litres of water containing sediment into the drainage system at Mount Panorama in September 2004. This has adversely affected aquatic life.
fuel trouble: Nine US states have sued the government for failing to address how its new federal fuel economy standards for sports-utility vehicles (SUVs) and light trucks will adversely affect air quality, fuel conservation and climate change. In March, US had approved a 24.1 mile-per-gallon standard
