Entry points for mainstreaming ecosystem-based adaptation: the case of South Africa This study was commissioned to improve the understanding of the uptake of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) in South Africa, the processes through which EbA has been lead and governed, and how EbA has been integrated into national policy, strategy and implementation. This study also aims to improve the understanding of how EbA can be further expanded and mainstreamed in the country. This study presents a set of five case studies to illustrate how implementation may occur and to draw early pertinent lessons. Thereafter, the study describes four main entry points for future expansion of EbA, with detailed consideration of key barriers and opportunities.
