  • 04/01/2019

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Aditya N Prasad Vs Union of India & Others dated 04/01/2019 regarding rescue of miners trapped inside an illegal coal mine in Meghalaya. Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General has informed the Court that since the mine in question where the miners are trapped is an illegal mine, there is no blue print of the mine. Another problem is that this mine is situated near a river and water from the river is seeping to the mine because of this reason even when the steps are taken to lay down the water further water is entering into the mine which is creating more complications. In spite of all this, all possible steps have been taken.

Court orders for an affidavit to be submitted about the steps which have been taken and the progress of the rescue operation.
