Report by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), Lucknow in compliance of the NGT order of October 22, 2019 (O.A. No. 835/2019) in the matter of RTI Activist Vs State of Uttar Pradesh. The NGT had directed the UPPCB to look into the operation of M/s Amroon Foods Pvt. Ltd. located at Agasan Road, Kursi, Barabanki. The unit was inspected on December 5, 2019.

The report stated that the unit was engaged in the production of frozen meat and meeting its fresh water requirement from groundwater through two bore well. Electromagnetic flow meter was installed at both the bore well and log book was maintained regarding fresh water consumption. As per log book available, the average fresh water consumption for the month of November 2019 was 464.2 KLD. The unit had obtained NOC from Central Ground Water Authority for ground water abstraction for 800 m3/day which was valid up to August 30, 2019. Unit had applied for renewal of NOC from CGWA which was under process. The unit had valid consent under the Water (PCP) Act, 1974 and the Air (PCP) Act, 1981.

The unit was generating effluent @ 765 KLD which was treated through its effluent treatment plant (ETP) of capacity 800 KLD. At the time of inspection, all the units of the effluent treatment plant was found to be operating satisfactorily. The online monitoring system (OCEMS) installed at the outlet of the ETP was also found operational. The treated effluent was used for irrigation in the green belt of the premises and by nearby farmers and the rest of the treated effluent was discharged through closed Hume pipe into the Reth river. The amount of pollutant in the sample of gaseous emission was found according to prescribed standards.
