Compliance report by the Deputy Director of Mines & Geology, Kakinada on the recommendations of the Joint Committee in O.A. No. 184/2017 (SZ).

The National Green Tribunal (NGT), January 8, 2020 directed the constitution of a committee to inspect the area to find out whether illegal mining is taking place in Godavari river bed.

The Joint Committee submitted its report, December 2021 and made some recommendations. These include: District Survey report shall be prepared and the quantity of sand reserves should be assessed. Scientific methodology should be adopted to assess the quantity of sand deposited in the reaches. Approved mining must be taken into consideration while issuing EC/CFE/CFO. Approved mining plan should also indicate measures to be taken for safe and proper closure of sand mine.
