Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding milk plant in Gulawati, district Bulandshahr polluting air and water, 03/01/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Manvir Tevtiya & Others Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 03/01/2023.
An application was received by the NGT, June 4, 2022 from several complainants led by Manvir Tevtiya, Mohalla Ramnagar, rural Nathugarhi, Gulawati, district Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. It is stated in the complaint that there is a milk plant (Paras milk plant) within Nagar Palika Parishad, Gulawati which is causing huge air and water pollution by emitting polluted air and discharging untreated polluted effluents directly in the groundwater by reverse borewell system. It is also discharging untreated effluent in the drains directly or transporting such effluent through tankers and discharging openly and discreetly.
The NGT directed the constitution of a joint committee comprising the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and District Magistrate, Bulandshahr to look into the matter. They will visit the site, collect information and submit a factual and action taken, if any, report within two months.
"The report needs to furnish, besides other, status of compliance with reference to consent conditions," the order passed by the bench of Justice Sudhir Agarwal, January 3, 2023 said.
