Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Maa Durga Primary Fisherman Co. Operative Society Ltd. Vs Ministry of Fisheries Animal Husbandary and Dairying dated 06/02/2024.
The applicant, a cooperative Society has filed the application seeking issuance of directions to respondents inter alia to frame concrete guidelines to avoid different kind of ambiguities related to identification of both the species Clarias Gariepinus (exotic Magur) and Clarias Batrachus (Indian Magur) and issue clarification related to ban on the culture, breeding, transportation, and import of Clarias Gariepinus (exotic Magur) and culture, breeding, transportation and import of Hybrid Clarias (Magur) (a hybrid of Clarias Batrachus x Clarias Gariepinus).
The NGT directed the cooperative society (Maa Durga Primary Fisherman Co. Operative Society) to file the relevant documents required and directed the matter to be listed for April 1, 2024 for further consideration.
