Environment clearance for setting up of Solar Thermal Power Plants under JNNSM - applicability of EIA Notification, 2006
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has brought to the notice of this Ministry that the State Pollution Control Boards have been asking for obtaining prior environment clearance in respect of Solar Thermal Power Projects as according to them, these projects get covered under Category 8(b) of the schedule to the EIA Notification, 2006. The matter has been examined in the Ministry of Environment & Forests, in the light of the technical and scientific information provided by MNRE vide their letter No.29/1(1)/2011-12/JNNSM(ST) dated 22.6.2011. It is clarified that Solar Thermal Power Projects are not covered by the provisions of EIA Notification, 2006.
