The Central Bureau of Investigation has formed 14 teams to pursue various leads into alleged irregularities in the use of coal blocks allocated to private firms between 2006 and 2009. The agency also plans to set up fact-finding teams to conduct on-the-ground surveys of the coal blocks under scrutiny.
During the past two days, the CBI has been in touch with the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India (CAG) seeking information on its findings regarding coal blocks, as mentioned in its preliminary report comprising details on alleged discrepancies in their allocation to private companies.
