The government today asked the petroleum ministry to ensure that oil companies compulsorily sold petrol mixed with 5 per cent ethanol. The government had in November 2006 mandated that ethanol should be blended in a 5 per cent proportion with petrol to be sold throughout India, except in areas like North-Eastern states and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India in its latest report has detected a wasteful expenditure of worth Rs 16.86 crore by the Power Development Department (PDD) on construction of a transmission line from Jammu to Udhampur. Srinagar: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah has said 20,000 MW will be generated from solar energy in the state in the next 10 years. The government today gave its formal approval to the introduction of five per cent ethanol-blending in petrol, at a price of Rs27 per litre for ethanol.<br /><br />The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) cleared the proposal for implementation of the ethanol programme in all states except Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep and northeastern states.<br />
