The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday said no child will be denied admission in primary schools run by it due to non-submission of birth certificate. Provisional admission is being granted to every child seeking admission in primary schools after accepting an affidavit by the guardian, subject to submission of birth certificate later on, civic body officials said.

Frequent power cuts coupled with unbearable heat, Delhiites had a tough day on Wednesday as electricity demand shot up to 3158MW. Due to low frequency in northern grid, less than standard 49 hz, as the neighboring states overdrew the electricity, power failed around 50 times during the day, Delhi Transco officials said. The situation is likely to remain same at least in the next few days even as there will be a marginal fall in temperature, as predicted by the Met department. Officials said the power cuts would continue till there was no considerable fall in temperature.
The Delhi Grain Merchants Association on Wednesday threatened to stop purchasing fresh stocks of food grain if the state 'government continued its raids in shops. DGMA president 0 P Jain warned that their decision not to buy fresh stocks might result in spiralling prices due to grain scarcity. Jain said food grain traders were being targeted in the name of hoarding despite "prices being under check." "We cannot be blamed for scarcity and increase of prices of food grains in coming days as the government does not want us to keep stock," Gupta said.
The government has decided to widen the road at Press Enclave and acquire land near Chirag Dilli village by covering the drain to ease traffic on the Bus Rapid Transit corridor.
