The Madhya Pradesh Government on Thursday again raised the issues of shortage of electricity and coal for thermal power plants. Time and again, the State Government has raised the issues with senior Union Cabinet Ministers but to no avail.
Bhopal: Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Resources (Independent Charge) Rajendra Shukla has urged the Union government to help in the efforts to mobilise funds for increasing power generation and implementing power reforms.
The state-owned power major NTPC on Wednesday said it will invest about Rs 40,000 crore for setting up three coal-based projects in Madhya Pradesh. The company has selected sites at Bamitha, Gadarwara and Khargone in the state for setting up three coal-fired power stations with a combined capacity of 7,960 MW. The average generation cost of one megawatt power is Rs 5 crore.
The state government has agreed in principle to install third-generation and ultramodern LED lights in the areas under all the municipal corporations in the state. For this, open tenders will be invited from various agencies and the agency quoting best rates will be assigned the job.

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government is targeting to supply round-the-clock power to all regions of the state by 2013. The state is expecting the power generation capacity to rise by 5000 MW by 2013. Due to coal shortage power production in thermal power projects of the MP Electricity Board has affected adversely. Several units have been closed because of shortage in coal supply.
