City agencies turn blind eye to carcass disposal
New Delhi, March 11: The repeated attempts of civil society to engage civic agencies towards disposing the bodies of dead animals have went in vain.
The city houses over two lakh dogs and over one lakh dairy cattle. As far as the arrangements in regards to disposing off the carcass of a dead animal is nearly nil.

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Corporation has decided to go in for ‘scientific closure' of the over 12 lakh tonnes of accumulated garbage at its Ariyamangalam dump, on the lines of a project executed in Coimbatore.

Soon, spot penalty for plastic bag ban violation
New Delhi: Violating the ban on the use and distribution of plastic bags in the city can soon lead to spot fines. To make the ban more effective, Delhi government is mulling a change in the Delhi Plastic Bag (Manufacture, Sales and Usage) and Garbage (Control) Act 2000 and the January 2009 notification under which use of plastic bags was prohibited in the city.
