MMC’s garbage scheme fails to take off

Roads to be built with demolition waste
Construction and demolition waste will now be used for the construction of roads and pavements in the Capital.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has developed a construction and demolition waste processing plant at Burari in north Delhi, by way of which the processed waste would be used for road works.

A lesson in what corruption of nature’s gift spells to residents
TAMBARAM: Pallikaranai is synonymous with two things — remnants of the once sprawling marshland, nature’s gift to Chennai, and a huge garbage dumping yard right inside the wetland that is seen as man’s response to nature. An ecological hotspot now turned into a disaster, the Pallikaranai town panchayat is the immediate town next to Chennai’s border in the south east direction.

3 beaches to be cleaned @ Rs 30,500 a day
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will dig deep into its pockets to ensure clean and pristine beaches in the western suburban regions of the city. It has decided to spend Rs30,500 per day on the clean-up of three major beaches of Versova, Madh-Marve and Gorai-Manori, all of which are inland tourist attractions.
