India, Russia to sign defence, nuclear pacts

Not enough to drink: Groundwater in 33% of India undrinkable
Iron, Fluoride, Salinity, Arsenic Beyond Tolerance Levels In Many Districts: Govt
New Delhi: Groundwater in more than a third of Indian districts is not fit for drinking. The government, in reply to a parliamentary question, admitted that iron levels in ground water are higher than those prescribed in 254 districts while fluoride levels have breached the safe level in 224 districts.

India to be third largest economy by 2020, says top ADB official

Going green: CIL plans to earn carbon credits
Looks For Partner To Set Up VAM Projects
COAL India (CIL) is exploring ways to earn carbon credits from its mining operations. It is looking to set up projects that involve capturing ventilation air methane (VAM) from coal blocks. This is expected to allow CIL to earn carbon credits. To this effect, CIL is now looking for a suitable collaborator to develop such VAM projects.

80 million diabetics in India by 2025
'In addition to HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria, prevention of diabetes should also be considered as the national mission. The Central government should make budgetary allocations for diabetes, which would include research, management and subsidised cost for treatment of diabetes,' said Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, CMD, Biocon Ltd on Thursday.

Iffco gets Rs 4 cr from carbon credits sale to Spain

Bt brinjal panel may side with Ramesh

FinCom sets Rs 5K cr for ecology-based projects
The 13th Finance Commission (TFC) has allocated Rs 5,000 crores as forest grant to support ecology-based projects initiated by of ministry of forests and environment (MF&E).
Another Rs 2,063 crores have been allocated to support for state-specific projects.
