Spl care taken to develop health sector: Pramila
Barpeta district administration organised a health mela on the Pashehim Paka Azad Memorial High School premises in Bhaktardaba from April 6 to 8 last. The mela was recently inaugurated by Minister of Agriculture Pramila Rani Brahma. In her inaugural speech, Brahma stated that the present government in the State led by Tarun Gogoi has taken special care for the healthcare of the backward areas of the State and it has taken keen interest to provide this essential service at the cheapest rate as well as to make them aware of the healthcare.

Diarrhoea claims 7 lives in Jorhat
Diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases have affected several tea garden areas in the district even before the onset of the monsoon season. According to the Jorhat Joint Director of Health Services, the diarrhoea toll has risen to seven so far. However, unofficial sources put the figure at not less than 13. More than 20 people are already down with diarrhoea-like symptoms.

Rs 18.42 cr for Jyoti Chitraban, Tribal art complex
The Ministry DoNER has sanctioned two projects including upgrade of Jyoti Chitraban Film and Television Institute and Bodoland Indigenous Tribal Art and Cultural Complex-cum-Studio, Kokrajhar at an estimated cost of Rs 18.42 crore. The target date for completion of the two projects is December 2099, said Union information and Broadcasting Minister, Priyaranjan Dasmunshi in reply to a question by Narayan Borkotoki.
