Crime in India 2017
The latest annual crime data, "Crime in India-2017", released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), revealed that there was an increase of 3.6 per cent in criminal cases in 2017 compared to 2016 when 50 lakh cases of cognisable offences were lodged across the country. The much-awaited data, which was delayed more than one year, for the crimes registered in 2017 revealed that the number of murder cases has declined 5.9 percent with 28,653 cases of killings registered in the year, down from 30,450 in 2016.
