The 2010 global forest resources assessment remote sensing survey

  • FAO

The FRA 2010 Remote Sensing survey is a systematic, comprehensive, global study of tree cover and forest land-use changes from 1990 to 2000 to 2005. It presents a consistent methodology for monitoring forest change at a global level that can be expanded for more detailed studies. It is expected that the survey will improve understanding of total forest area changed, the patterns resulting from this change, and the processes driving forest cover change globally. This is information that governments, land managers, researchers and civil society groups can use to make better-informed decisions regarding the world
