Education bill in 11th 5-year Plan
The Centre on Friday gave the go-ahead to the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan scheme, aimed at universalisation of access to and improvement of quality of education at secondary stage. The Union Cabinet on Friday allocated Rs 20,120 crores for the scheme in the 11th Five-Year Plan.

65% elementary schools without headmasters: Study
Over 65 pe cent of elementary schools in Goa have no headmasters. This dubious distinction is also shared by our neighbouring states, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Others are even worse off. Over two-thirds of elementary schools in Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh function without headmasters, a study has revealed.

But one school in Rajkot has taken the giant leap forward and made blackboards, notebooks, chalks and dusters redundant. 93.94% pass out of Class V under SSA programme Teaching & learning

CHENNAI: The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan has tracked 8 lakh children in the State, who entered its programme in Class 1 in 2003. This May, 93.94 per cent successfully passed out of Class 5, having benefited from the improved infrastructure, additional teachers and activity-based learning brought about by the project.
