JAIPUR: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's (DMRC) proposal of operating and maintaining of the Jaipur Metro for one year after completion of the project may not be accepted by the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC). To operate the Jaipur Metro under the surveillance of experts, the DMRC has proposed that JMRC should take over after one year when the new staff is well-versed with the operations and maintenance. However, JMRC chief managing director N C Goyal says, "We are confident of handling operation and maintenance from day one. After getting overwhelming response from the private sector in major rail infrastructure public private partnership (PPP) projects, Indian railways is now eyeing to attract an investment of around R1,000 crore from private sector for building toilets at 600 railway stations under PPP mode. The much-needed step to provide basic amenity at stations comes in at a time when the national transporter is cash strapped and has no money to complete its major infrastructure projects. Railways, for long, has been struggling to provide clean lavatories at its stations as hygienic toilets have never been a priority for railways due to cash crunch.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday declared that Bangalore will have the metro train, monorail, and high-speed train connectivity to Bangalore International Airport in the next three years.
