Farmers of seven districts rally against gas pipeline project
Vehicles proceeding towards Omalur Main Road diverted for three hours. Farmers from seven districts gathered in protest against the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) gas pipeline cutting through their farmlands on Tuesday. They assembled near the Five Road Junction and attempted to lay siege to the GAIL’s office. Police removed 834 persons, including 80 women. They were later released in the evening.

Govt to stop all commercial activities in core areas of forests
JAIPUR: The state government on Tuesday announced that all state-run commercial activities in the core areas of reserve forests would be discontinued. The announcement came during the question hour in the assembly when the opposition strongly protested the running of RTDC's Tiger Den and other lodges in the core area of the reserve forest. With an aggressive opposition cornering the state government over the RTDC run commercial hotels in the core area, incharge minister Parsadilal Meena assured the house: ''RTDC run hotels, if any in the core area, will be shut down.''

Haryana revises norms for change of land use
The Haryana Government has revised the norms, guidelines and parameters for grant of permission for Change of Land Use (CLU) for development of retail outlets and fuel filling stations other than CNG (compressed natural gas) or PNG (piped natural gas). Stating this here on Tuesday, a spokesman of the Town & Country Planning Department added that while considering or examining CLU application for setting up retail outlets, fuel filling stations in controlled areas, land requirement and other parameters as per new guiding principles shall be followed.In case of independent petrol pumps along National Highways, the minimum area for independent fuel filling stations would be 35 metres by 35 metres on undivided carriageway. On divided carriageway, it would be 35 metres (frontage) by 45 metres.
