Plantation Land Conversion Only For Improving Economic Conditions The revenue department has come up with an order plugging the loopholes in the amendment of the Kerala Land Reforms Act 1963, which allowed conversion of 5% plantation land for other purposes. BHUBANESWAR: Odisha government will take action against companies, which have bought private land without government permission, a government statement said. Revenue minister Surya Narayan Patro has asked district collectors to register cases against companies, which bought land without taking government permission under the Orissa Land Reforms Act, 1960, the statement said. The minister has asked the collectors to take disciplinary action against tahasildars, who registered such properties. The government will cancel the land pattas of such deals, it added.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT), Southern Bench, has rapped the Tirunelveli Collector and Sivagiri Tahsildar for their non-appearance in a case filed by the villagers of Nelkattumseval against the conversion of a stream into a road in Tirunelveli district. R. Sundaraiah Thevar and R.Velusamy Thevar of Nelkattumseval village, Sivagiri taluk, filed an application before the National Green Tribunal, New Delhi seeking to restrain the authorities from converting the land into a road and further sought direction to maintain the subject survey land as it exists as per the revenue records. The application has been pending before the NGT since September last year.

PANJIM: Considering that land allocated for industrial development has been left unutilized or underutilized for years, the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has resolved to direct around 150 such plot owners to either start the work or surrender the plots to the corporation, Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) said on Thursday. The decision was taken during the recent Goa Industrial Development Corporation board meeting. There are around 150 plots which were allotted during the previous regime.
ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad High Court on Thursday delivered a judgment pertaining to auction sale of land in rural areas, pursuant to recovery of arrears of land revenue. The High Court, in larger public interest, issued certain directions to be implemented by the Collectors/District Magistrates of the state before issuing sale proclamation to auction the land in rural areas. The court directed that breach of any direction will not only invalidate the auction sale, but also give cause of complaint against the erring officers responsible for issuance of such proclamation of sale. They will also be liable for initiating contempt proceedings under the Contempt of Court Act, the high court added.
